Nano Tattoo LV

Process & Care

The Process

Every initial appointment begins with a thorough consultation where we discuss your end goal and what it's going to take to get there. It's always helpful to bring pictures of what you do and don't like to better guide me in the right direction.

We'll begin the mapping process where I'll draw your new shape/hairstrokes in pencil. This will give you a general idea of what the end goal will look like. Once you've approved of the drawing, I'll mix your custom colors and we'll begin the tattoo which normally takes around 1.5-2 hours.

Once your new brows are complete, I'll take after photos, review your aftercare instructions in detail, and provide you with all the supplies you'll need for proper healing.

Pre Care

Discontinue

  • Retinol/BHA/AHA products on your forehead/brow area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
  • Once healed, BHA and AHA products are okay around the brow area (not directly on brows), but using retinols on brows/forehead can cause premature fading and require more frequent touchups.
  • Alcohol or other blood thinners like Advil (ibuprofen), tea, fish oil, vitamins, etc. 24 hours prior to appointment.

Cosmetic Procedures

  • No botox/fillers, chemical peels, harsh exfoliants, or microdermabrasion at least 4 weeks before and after appointment.
  • Stop all tweezing/waxing 4 weeks prior to your appointment.

Skin Hydration

  • SKIN HYDRATION IS KEY TO GETTING GOOD RESULTS, especially if you live in a dry climate like Nevada or Arizona.
  • 1 week prior to your appointment, stay on top of drinking water and moisturizing the skin with a lotion or balm of some sort (cetaphil, lubriderm, aquaphor, etc.) morning and night to prep your skin for your appointment.

Pre-Appointment Day

  • No coffee or exercise the morning of your appointment. (Sorry, I know)
  • Wash your hair before the appointment since you'll need to avoid excessive water exposure while healing.
  • Make sure you eat plenty of food before the appointment since our sessions can get lengthy and bring a light sweater in case the studio temperature is cold.

After Care

Washing & Moisturizing

  • Do not wash your brows until the day after your procedure.
  • Gently wash your brows twice daily using an unscented cleanser (Cetaphil/Cerave is great). Avoid scrubbing or rubbing back and forth, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the brow area and rinse away any remaining soap before the next step.
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel, ensuring no moisture remains before applying your healing lotion.
  • Apply a thin layer of the provided lotion to keep the skin lightly moisturized, more is not better.
  • Continue this wash + lotion routine twice daily until the flaking stage begins.

During the Flaking Stage

  • Mild dryness or itchiness is normal. Do not pick or scratch any active flaking, allow them to fall off naturally.

Activity Restrictions

  • Avoid sweating, saunas, and direct sunlight until flaking has fully ceased.
  • Keep steamy showers brief, ideally under 5 minutes.
  • If any bath products come in contact with your tattoo, gently cleanse and rinse immediately after showering.

Color Changes & Healing Timeline

  • Your brows will appear bold at first, then very light once flaking has finished.
  • Around 3-4 weeks post-procedure, the color will begin to bloom and gradually darken again.
  • The true tone will be visible around 5-6 weeks after your appointment.

FAQ

Traditional microblading is done using a small blade dipped in ink to essentially create tiny papercuts in the skin. Main issue with this technique is the high risk of forming scar tissue & how the artist has little control over saturation. Full saturation right away can lead to a healed color that’s too dark & ages poorly. This, in combination with the wrong skin type is what also leads to blurring & migration. Machine Nano Brows are done with a tattoo machine using a single, thin needle. (Similar to how a sewing machine needle pokes in and out). I start off light & build color gradually in each pass. I can create more realistic dimension by using different sized needles, & most importantly, no cutting open the skin which means a gentler healing process & protecting your skin in the long run.
Yes, this is a tattoo. Only difference between tattoos on the body & tattoos on the face is that your facial skin is thinner & regenerates at faster rate so things can lighten/soften over time (why it get refreshed or “touched-up” every few years) but at the end of the day you should go into this with the mindset of it being permanent. If the idea of permanence scares you, a tattoo may not be for you. This is used as a more permanent solution for hairloss or aesthetic change than constant makeup application, brow dyeing, or tinting. Most important thing to remember is that a tattoo lives INSIDE the skin while real hair grows out of it. It still has to be seen through the lens of the skin so it will never look exactly like real natural hair that grows out of your body.
Every initial appointment begins with a thorough consultation where we talk about your desired outcome. It's always helpful to bring pictures of what you do & don't like to better lead me in the right direction. After taking some photos, I’ll begin the mapping process where I'll draw your new shape/hairstrokes in pencil. Once we’ve collaborated & you've approved of the drawing, I'll mix your custom colors & we'll begin the tattoo which normally takes around 1.5-2 hours. Once your new brows are complete, I'll review your aftercare instructions with you in detail, schedule your touchup appointment, & provide you with supplies you'll need for proper healing.
The brows will go through various stages throughout the healing process & it’s why I advise against going on vacation or a special event right after getting them done for at least two weeks. Immediately after the session, you will experience a mild sunburn sensation over the brow area. This is normal but only temporary. The color will appear bold at first since it’s fresh, but keep in mind that it will soften significantly (20-40%) once healed. The color will look a shade darker on the 2nd day due minor swelling and redness, this is normal after a tattoo & won’t stay that way. Around Day 5 you may experience some light flaking & the flaking can last 10-14 days. It's crucial you follow aftercare instructions carefully to ensure optimal results. Final healed color will be visible at around 5-6 weeks.
Pain is obviously subjective and varies person to person but clients describe moments of slight discomfort rather than actual pain. On a scale of 1–10, the common rating is a 2 or 3 but I’ll put it to you this way: 95% of my clients end up falling asleep while I'm working on them so pain should truly be the least of your worries. I also apply a numbing agent a couple times during the procedure to keep you super comfortable, just be sure to make me aware of any allergies or lidocaine sensitivity.
Two appointments are typically needed to reach your desired result. The initial appointment is followed by a touchup session 8-12 weeks later. This allows the skin time to fully heal, internally & externally, and gives the pigment a chance to settle before we make adjustments to your shape and color. Depending on certain medical factors and/or prexisiting conditions, additional touchup appointments may be needed to achieve the desired result. Uncommon but it does happen.
After your touchup appointment, you can expect the tattoo to last a couple years before considering a refresh. Sunscreen over the brows (once fully healed) is the #1 thing I recommend to ensure the work lasts as long as possible. Refresh timeline depends on various factors such as skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, etc. but I need my clients to wait as long as possible before considering a refresh & to TRUST ME when I say to wait longer so we aren't oversaturating the skin. After some time, I may even need you to get some of the old ink lasered out to make room for new ink & that’s a totally normal part of the process. All of my advice is to ensure a soft, natural result that lasts as long as possible. Layering new pigment over old ink over and over again will only accelerate the need for removal. If you're ever unsure, you can always reach out with pictures for guidance.
I do my best & most natural work on non-tattooed skin & will always recommend you remove unwanted work first before placing more ink into the skin. I can’t change what’s already there. That being said, I do take clients with previous work on a case-by-case basis. This mainly depends on how much pigment is leftover and what your desired service is. Just note that in order to cover up old ink, I need to go thicker & darker than what you already have in order for it to show. If you aren’t okay with that or were hoping for a lighter result, your only option is removal. Laser tattoo removal is the quickest, safest option for removing old ink and I can refer you to technicians in the city upon request.
